Geocache Description:

In 1861  Labon Tucker and his sons came to the area south of this cache to build a version of the Colt Dragoon for the Confederacy. J. H. Sherrard also joined in the enterprise. Compelled by Lt Governor of Texas John M. Crockett to build thousands. They built the factory but because supplies were low during the war not many were made and are highly collectible. This also being the site of a library destroyed by the F4 tornando in 1994 and rebuilt. The Library moved.

Small  plastic geocaching container camo taped.  Small items can be put in it. waterproof pencil. You may want to byop. Parking location for Historical Marker is n 32 35.530 w 96 45.492. You will have to cross street to the empty lot for cache. Most likely only 400 Tucker Revolvers were made during the war. A replica of the Tucker and Sherrard Dragoon can be found at The Lancaster Visitors Center and City of Lancaster State Auxiliary Museum. Open Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. On every second Saturday of the month the Visitors Center and State Auxiliary Museum are open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Main st and 342. ******Congrats to tenorclef for FTF********
