During the 1800's Augustus Hazard owned and operated a powder mill in this area. At its peak the Hazard Powder Company operated in 125 buildings occupying hundreds of acres of land with 25 water wheels and 3 steam engines along a mile of Scantic River frontage.
Park at the parking coordinates given and you will be on the right side of the river for this geocache.
Welcome to the hiking trail along the Scantic River. Here you will see many remnants of the gunpowder producing days of yesteryear. Enjoy the adventure!
This cache is hidden around 35 feet from the trail. You will be looking for a camo'ed regular size lock-and-lock container. This cache is large enough to hold geo-coins and smaller travel bugs. You may encounter prickers or ticks, you know, because you are in the woods!
