Whalen Island was originally owned by a Family for three generations. In the 1990's, it was almost sold to a housing developer, but was eventually sold to the State for a park. The area has been left in it's wild, natural state and has a 1.5 mile easy trail (my 83 year-old Dad walks this trail) around it with great views of the Sandlake estuary and the ocean.
Careful when walking on the vegetation. Please re-hide well.
