The cache is at an elevation of 5178 feet just a short climb from
the highway. I couldn't find a right-sized ammo can before leaving
to drop this cach, so it will be found in a Rubbermaid shoebox.
Keep me posted if the container falls prey to rodents, or
exposure.
US route 6 is perhaps the longest continious route in these United
States. it runs from Provincetown at the very tip of Cape Cod
Massachusetts, 3205 miles to Bishop, California. Not so very far
from Bishop, on a lonely stretch of this highway one might find the
cache named the Salt Marsh Stach. There is a good parking spot on
the south side of the highway. It might be a good spot to let the
kids out to look for their pet rock. For the rockhound, up stream
from the highway, in the wash that crosses the highway just
southeast of the cache, there is some pretty fair jasper to be
found.
Although the terrain is somewhat difficult the cache is close to
the highway, and easy to access. I hope that this cache will
provide a pleasant interlude for a weary traveler or two.
The cache contains:
- Logbook, pencils, and the geocache found notice.
- Pocket organizer (only the the computer function may
work).
- Coffee mug.
- 15mm combination wrench.
- Roadmap of Utah.
- Fishing floats.
- Wood carving of a tree.
- Apache tears (polished obsidian stones from the local
area).
- Necklace.
- Homemade picture frame.
Good luck, and enjoy. 3
