Geocache Description:

You are looking for a clip lock box hidden alongside a disused canal.

The Thames and Severn Canal was completed in 1789. Railways took much of the canal's traffic away though by the end of the 19th century, and most of the canal was abandoned in 1927, the remainder in 1941. Since 1972, the Cotswold Canal Trust has been working to restore the canal.

The cache is hidden beside a part that has had very little work done to it. If you take the footpath from the bridge just to the east of GZ, and head south, this will lead to you to the Thames Head, the official source of the River Thames, and the start of the Thames Path public footpath.
