Gumbo is small in stature, but large on skill. He can take down a small mouse, a cockroach, or flying moth on one strike of his blade. Although his bright hue gives him away, he is a master at camouflage and deception.
Gumbo is hiding in the Orcutt Open Space off the main trail in a tree. Watch out for cow dung and don’t poke your eye out. Gumbo’s log is nano, but he is much bigger and obvious and should make for a pretty quick find. It will be harder to spot him when the leaves grow back, so best get him in the winter. Enjoy this beautiful trail and pack out any trash you find if possible. Also, please put Gumbo back as he was as much as possible. Thanks!
It is best to park at the trailhead if you can, otherwise you can start your journey at Rice Ranch Park. Happy Hunting, go get Gumbo before he gets you.... Just so you know, the nano log that is supposed to magnetically come out is not so easy. Bring TWEEZERS if you can. Otherwise if it becomes too difficult I'll have to make a bigger log for Gumbo. Sorry. (update: Gumbo just added tweezers to his arsenal, hopefully they stay there), update on 2-15-15: put an alternate log in an alternate container near Gumbo in case you don't want to deal with nano.
