Geocache Description:

Welcome to the POWER T, Big Orange Country! This is a little GeoArt series to honor some of the greats that wore orange. Find all 65 and you'll be the proud owner of a POWER T on your caching map. Sorry if you're from Texas. Maybe we'll make a LITTLE T series for you in the future (lol).

I'd like to introduce to you Todd Helton.

Todd was born in Knoxville Tennessee and played both football and baseball for the Vols from 1991 - 1994. He was named a Gatorade Player of the Year for football and baseball at Tennessee. As a freshman and sophomore, he backed up Heath Shuler at quarterback. Entering his junior season in 1994, he was the back-up to Jerry Colquitt and ahead of Peyton Manning. After Colquitt tore knee ligaments in the season opener at UCLA, Helton took over as the starter. Three weeks later against Mississippi State, he suffered a knee injury himself and was replaced by Manning. Helton did, however, win the Dick Howser Trophy as National Collegiate Baseball Player of the Year following his junior baseball season. Helton was also scouted during his games as starting quarterback by the Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Oilers. He is also a member of the Phi Gamma Delta "FIJI" Fraternity.
He also acted as Tennessee's closer, even setting the NCAA record for most consecutive scoreless innings pitched(47). In 1995, he set the Tennessee saves record with 11, while posting a 0.89 ERA. Helton was drafted in the first round, eighth overall, in the 1995 MLB Draft by the Colorado Rockies..

Todd has been with the Colorado Rockies since 1997 and has been to 5 All Star games, NL Batting Champion (2000), 4x Silver Slugger, and 3x NL Gold Glove Award winner.

If Todd has spent his whole MLB career at Colorado (through the 2012 season) then go to N35 47.002 W084 14.886. If he's played for more another team in his career go to N35 47.000 W084 14.800.
