This awe-inspiring bruin lives in the forest and mountains of the North America, Euorpe, and Asia.  It is the most widely distrubuted bruin in the world.  These omnivorous giants tend to be solitary animals, except for the females and their young.  But at times they do congrate.  Dramatic gatherings can be seen at prime Alaskan fishing spots when the salmon swim upstream for summer spawning.  Craving fats that will sustain them through the long winter ahead.  They may eat as much as 90lbs a day, this may double their weight.  They dig dens for winter hibernation, often hollowing up in a suitable hillside.  Females den while they are pregnant and give birth to twins.  The new borns nurse on their mothers milk until spring and stay with her for 2 1/2 tears.  Adults are powerful, top-of-the-food-chain predators.  But, much of their diet consistes of nuts, berries, fruit, leaves, and roots.  They also eat other animals.  Despite their enormous size they are extremely fast, having been clocked at speeds of 30mph.  They can be dangerous to humans, particulary if surprised or if a human gets between a mother and her young.
