Sul Col Marcon come sui vicini colle dell’Abbazia di Santa Bona, colle del Castello di Vidor e col Carpenon, ha avuto luogo nella giornata del 10 novembre 1917 una cruenta battaglia tra i soldati Italiani e i soldati Austroungarici giunti a Vidor dopo la disfatta di Caporetto del 24 Ottobre 1917.
Fu allestita una testa di ponte che doveva rallentare l’avanzata Austroungarica per permettere alle retrovie italiane di passare il Ponte di Vidor per posizionarsi al di là del Piave.
La battaglia del 10 novembre costò la vita di 15 Ufficiali e  300 tra Sottufficiali  e Soldati Italiani.
Sul Col Marcon cadde eroicamente il Capitano Stefanino Curti,  cittadino di Imola, medaglia d’oro alla memoria,  comandante delle 221^ Compagnia Alpini del  Battaglione Valvaraita e un cippo costruito sulla sommità del Col Marcon lo ricorda.  
Il locale gruppo Alpini di Vidor è intitolato al suo nome.
Vicino a questo cippo sono visibili tutt’ora, vari tratti di trincee risalenti alla prima Guerra Mondiale e prevalentemente quelle realizzate ed utilizzate dagli Austroungarici nel periodo dal 10 Novembre 1917 quando arrivarono a Vidor, fino all’Ottobre/ Novembre 1918 quando le truppe Italiane passarono il Piave riconquistando i territori Italiani.

On the Col Marcon as the nearby hill of the Abbey of Santa Bona, Castle Hill Vidor and with Carpenonthere was , on the day of 10 November 1917 a bloody battle between the Italian soldiers and Austro-Hungarian soldiers arrived in Vidor after the defeat of Caporetto of 24 October 1917.
