Nice Log! Challenge Mystery Cache

The cache is at the posted coordinates and is NOT ACCESSIBLE FROM THE FREEWAY!

There is a popular online service that analyzes your geocaching activity and produces statistics and graphs beyond those provided by Geocaching.com. When I was checking a few of my statistics, I noticed that the Average “Found it” log length is calculated and ranked. This gave me the idea for this challenge.

Challenge: Count and total the number of words in your 5 longest logs

To satisfy this challenge, simply count and add up the total number of words in your 5 longest logs. This includes “Found it”, “Attended” and “Didn’t find it” log entries. Logs that contain a lot of cache information (i.e. data to support a challenge cache) do not count towards the total.

Different tools calculate slightly different word counts so absolute accuracy is not necessary. Use any tool that is convenient. Click Here for an online tool or here for a GSAK macro. The output of the GSAK macro is in User Data 4. Select User data 4 (Standard data fields) under Tools/Options/Display to display this column.

Include the log word count, the cache name, and the total word count in your log for this cache. It would be great if you could also include the link to your log so others can find it quickly. For an example, here are mine:

As a bonus, I have created a Google Doc (click here) for you to enter your total word count. This step is optional but you will earn bonus points if you add your Geocaching Name and Word Count to the document.

As a geocacher, I enjoy reading about the personal experience of other geocachers. This can be informative and in some cases, very entertaining. As a cache owner, the logs are a valuable feedback tool that can make my next cache even better.

You can only log this challenge once, but feel free to update your log entry and/or Google Doc with the word count from your next log that makes everyone reading it think “Nice Log!”
