Galileo the cat: Includes Solution!

Big Game #48 was over ten years ago, and despite Frank Gore and Colin Kaepernick's efforts, the 49ers lost a close one to the Ravens. It's time for this one to go, there hasn't been a lot of activity on it.

What's the solution, you might ask? The descriptions should lead you to a list of games over the years. Notice who sang the national anthem before each game ("There is so much to do before the coin toss.") and that will lead you to the coordinates. Why? Remember, Baltimore was where Francis Scott Key wrote the words to "The Star-Spangled Banner" during the British bombardment of Ft. McHenry in 1814.

There are all kinds of Big Games. In Roman times, a Big Game often involved a hungry kitty. Yikes! Luckily, no beasts or Romans are involved here.

People get really hyped up when their team gets to go to one. Here is a puzzle for those not interested in football as well as those who are super fans of the coming Big Game. There is so much to do before the coin toss. Go Niners !

Some past NFL Big Games worth noting:

  • The Bay Area's first win,
  • and it's last
  • Gave us the euphemism "wardrobe malfunction"
  • 2012, too bad San Francisco didn't get in
  • The "other" NY team upsets a perfect New England
  • Kurt Warner leads St Louis to their first win
  • Joe Montana to John Taylor, SF comes from behind to win
  • New Orleans surprises everyone with an onside kick
  • Jim O'Brien's field goal wins with five seconds left
  • Green Bay leads all the way, taking their fourth
  • Washington beats Miami in the rematch
  • Pittsburgh winning their sixth over some dirty birds
  • Miami wins their second in a row
  • Pittsburgh rallies on Lynn Swann's touchdown for their 2nd SB win
  • MVP Joe Montana runs for one TD and throws for one more

Update 8/28/2017- Thanks to cachbefound for discovering an ambiguity in a resource that made solving this one more difficult than intended. Hints adjusted.
