Practice CITO on Earth Day, Sunday, April 21st at the Wethersfield Cove. There's a special G.C souvenir icon in it for ya if you do!
I have hosted CITOs here before, but the Cove needs to be cleaned regularly because it collects trash that floats down the Connecticut River from the northern New England states... to the detriment of nearby birds, fish and mammals (including humans!). Let's spend this day doing something to benefit them, and for our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, real or as-yet only imagined! We'll start at 9:00am. I will provide coffee and pastry and garbage bags. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN GLOVES TO WEAR - some of what floats in from the CT River is gross. You never know, there may also even be hazardous materials among the trash, so if in doubt, don't touch it! The clean-up is also at the edge of water, so the really brave will wear their wellies and get the stuff that's still floating! Finally, although many of us already have bulbs popping out of what should be the frozen February ground, since April showers bring the May flowers, please check this site the morning of the CITO in case inclement weather requires a postponement. I have arranged for the Town to come by later to pick up the bagged trash for us. Also, we'll have a place to trade or discover travel bugs or coins!
