Geocache Description:

You are going to go down a state road.  Cache is a few feet off the shoulder.  Do not go down the hill, you can see the mine from the road.

Aspinwall was a Dover Coal Mining Company mine that was opened in the mid 1800s by General Stone. The shaft consisted of two circular bricklined shafts about 50 feet apart. Both shafts were ten feet in diameter; one shaft was 300 feet deep the other 935 feet deep. 

Methane was a problem here, but the mine was considered salvagable in 1916.
