Geocache Description:

One of a series of simple, easy to find, caches at railway stations in and around the Manawatu.

Welcome aboard the Foxton-Palmerston tram service to Palmerston! Last stop Carnarvon, next stop Oroua Bridge.

What wasn't swamp land around Bainesse was dense bush. But by 1878, just five years after the Foxton-Palmerston horse-drawn tramway started, and two years after its conversion to steel rail and steam, Bainesse Farm was in production and expected to supply such a considerable amount of produce, to be exported through the Government Wharf at Foxton, that Bainesse Station was installed to meet its needs. However the homestead burnt down two years later and the 1528 acre farm was sold and subdivided into 100-500 acre lots.

Bainesse Station, 1955

The station used to be in the field between the house and the road. The people in the house know the cache is here and know to expect you. There is good parking on the other side of the road from the cache, or on the side road, but this is 100km/h road, be careful.

You are looking for a 400ml Sistema container. FTF gets to FTF a new TB. Happy hunting!
