Since the late 19th century Lydd has been a garrison town although it is now used for manoeuvers rather than having a permanent army companies based here. Thousands of soldiers from all regiments passed through lydd camp during the war along with the more permanent regiments defending the marsh and surrounding district. The explosive `Lyddite` was manufactured(pitric acid) and tested here in 1888 and named after Lydd town. If you look across the road to the army grounds from the cache site you will see the ramps built for the troops to practise loading and unloading vehicles onto boats as part of the rehearsal for the D-Day landings. several of these ramps still remain. You are looking for a disguised hot chocolate plastic jar. You will need to park up then walk or cycle along the cycle path from the Lydd end towards Camber, please do not search from the road side, its a very busy and dangerous rd keep to the path. The cache is on the footpath side( near concrete) of the road, no need to cross. If you dont sign the log book please dont log it online.
