This is part of a series placed to draw attention to the devestation caused by Hurricane Irene. Irene was a large and very destructive tropical storm, which affected much of the East Coast of the United States in August of 2011. Irene is currently ranked as the sixth costliest hurricane in United States history.
Located on the creek-side of the village, the Schoharie Free Library was hit hard by Irene. The basement was completely flooded and the main floor had water rise to three feet, covering every book on the lower two shelves on the main floor. This beautiful building is an iconic institution of this little village and it's only through the hard work of many people, that this beloved library is once again opening it's doors to the community.
Library hours and information can be found at: http://www.schoharielibrary.org
Many thanks to Catherine Caiazzo and the SFL for allowing the placement of this cache. BYOP
