The railway across this bridge once carried passengers to both Turnchapel (Southern Railway) and to Yelverton (Great Western Railway). Passenger trains ceased a long time ago. However the line survived until the 1980's to serve freight trains coming out of the Blue Circle Cement Works.
This cache is situated just off a cycle path. Parking can be found nearby in Embankment Lane, or the other side of the river in The Ride. You will have to negotiate a wooden fence to get to the cache. The area below the bridge is used by fisherman, so stealth may be required
