Barley Finds An Ancient Motorway Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not responded to my note I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to contact me about this cache please use my Email address below my signature and quote the GC number of the cache. Please note this system is not infallible and I may miss any such mail.

Many thanks,

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

The cache has room for a couple of small swaps, but you will need your own pen.

Parking is available on Station Road, be heed the parking advice and don't park where there are solid white lines.

The second in our "Barley" series. You are looking for a small container slightly larger than a 35mm film canister. The cache can retrieved without damage to any nearby paths, walls or bridges, and is located just off the pathway.

The woods are very popular, especially with dog owners & families, so stealth will be required.

Head towards the 'Ancient Motorway', formerly a pack horse route and walk downhill along the path. Sturdy ponies carried heavy loads of goods between local communities. The leader of a group of pack horses was called a'Jagger', and this may be how Jagger Wood got its name.

At the moment everywhere is very wet, and the some paths are almost impossible to walk without getting very muddy, so be warned!
