Te Aro Pa (Wellington) Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

buttels: Walked passed the area the other day and noticed that both the museum is still closed and now the area where the final was has been gardened over. This tells me it's time to give up on this cache and maybe make the area available to to some else.

Geocache Description:

Visit the smallest museum in Wellington

This is an easy two stage multi in the heart of Wellington.

In 2006 the building of the apartment block was halted after some archaeological evidence of previous habitation of the site was found. The story makes for an interesting read, especially when the developer asked for all the lawyers to leave the discussions. The full story is here: (visit link)

You need to visit the museum between 9am - 5pm any day of the week to gather the answers to the following questions.....

Matapihi ki te Ao Tawhito
A = Number parked cars on Taranaki St outside H Webster +1
B = Number of crossbars on the pole in the centre of the picture (don't include double crossbars) +3
C = Number of letters in the Hotel name -6

Te Aro Pa

D = Number of waka on the beach (excluding the jetty the person is sitting on in the foreground, but including the the waka being worked on)+2
E = Number of sea birds -4
F = Number of houses on the top of the hill -1

Final is at S41 17.ABC E174 46.DEF
Checksum of A+B+C+D+E+F=24

The final is very close by, and can be accessed at any time. Its a very visible spot so its probably better to remove the container for signing. Please take time to re-hide the cache it is also a very windy spot too so needs to be well tucked in. Sorry no pen inside so please bring one and be careful with the road crossings.
