Geocache Description:

A short walking tour of White Point Gardens. May be wheelchair accessible if able to navigate over rough uneven sidewalks.

The coordinates listed above are for the start of your adventure.

This is my first Wherigo cartridge and the first Wherigo cache for the Charleston area. It is designed to be very easy to run and get to the final location while presenting quite a bit of historic information about the area.

To find this cache, you will need a player capable of playing Wherigo cartridges. I was able to download and play the cartridge on my Android phone and tablet by using the WhereYouGo app. Other smart phones and tablets should also have an app that will play the cartridges. They will also play on the Oregon and Colorado gpsrs.
You will need to set up a Wherigo account using your same log in information as you use for geocaching.com.

Wherigo is a toolset for creating and playing GPS-enabled adventures in the real world. Wherigo allows geocachers to interact with physical and virtual elements such as objects or characters while still finding a physical geocache container. You can learn more by visiting www.wherigo.com . I suggest you read through this information as it will make it easier to understand how to download the cartridges to play on your device. You may need to download the cartridge to your PC or laptop first and then transfer it to the program file listing on your mobile device via USB connection. You would want to use the option “ pocket pc device” in your download. There is a demo cartridge and several "play anywhere" cartridges on the website if you want to test your mobile device and make sure you can load and run the cartridges before travelling to the actual site for this cartridge or any of the other cartridges that are available.

To complete this cache, you will need the cartridge called "White Point Gardens-Battery Park." Click on this link (visit link) to download it.

This cache will take you from the historic Edmonston-Alston House to White Point Gardens ---a short walk away. You do not need to enter the house or the adjacent property to obtain the information you need to answer the first question. Then you will be directed around the park stopping at a number of locations. You will need to answer a multiple choice question at each stop in order to get the co-ordinates to the next stop and finally to the cache itself. Once you get into the “range” of the stop you are looking for, the question you need to answer and a drop down menu of your options should pop up on your device.

I suggest you park along E. Battery Street....along the seawall if possible as many of the side streets are designated as resident only parking. Take care along the sidewalk between the Edmonston-Alston House and White Point Gardens as it is very uneven...

When you have successfully completed the cartridge and found the cache, an unlock code will come up on the final page. You can use this code on the Wherigo.com page to indicate you have completed the cartridge. You will need to write this code down before you exit the cartridge.
Have fun and please let me know if you encounter any difficulties.
