Geocache Description:

GEOCACHING 101: CLARESHOLM, ALBERTA Geocaching is an international, high-tech treasure-hunt game suitable for all ages that gets you off the couch and interacting with family & friends. It’s a great way to explore new places and have some adventures in the great outdoors. Local geocacher “Grey Wolfe” invites you to join him at the Claresholm library to learn about the sport and get some experience with GPS devices that are Geocaching-friendly.

Date: Saturday March 16 at 10am for 2-3 hours GPS coordinates for the Claresholm Library : N 50 01.462 W 113 35.080 There will be in-class instruction followed by some practise out in the field. If you have a GPSR bring it with you: loaners will be available. If enough interest is expressed we are hoping to start a local club in the area. Check out www.geocaching.com for more information.

THE INSTRUCTORS Shamus and Dawn Wyrm[Geowyrms] are very active in the Calgary Geocaching community. In 2011 they helped plan WestCan1 – the Best of the Bad -- and partnered with the Calgary Public Library to celebrate their centennial. Dawn and Shamus are the Geocaching liaisons to the City of Calgary, and have taught a Geocaching class at a local school. They promote the integration of Geocaching and environmental awareness at many community events. However, nothing beats mentoring a new cacher on a one-to-one basis! The Wyrm’s always try to be available to new cachers to help everyone get the fullest enjoyment out of a cherished past time. Bob [Grey Wolfe] has been caching since the summer of 2010 and was active with the Calgary Geocachers, attending events like CARS (Cache and release) and CITO (cache in, trash out). He has also done one-on-one mentoring and led a number of workshops for the Calgary District Junior Forest Wardens.
