Traditional cache hidden as part of the St Osyth cache resurrection.

The wind farm development is a site of 5 wind turbines located on agricultural land West of Clacton on Sea and North East of St Osyth. The site is located wholly within Tendring District and covers approximately 80 hectares. Initial construction proposals suggested a timescale of 7.5  months to complete the works and the turbines themselves have a design life of 20-25 years. At the end of this time planning permission will also expire and the site is likely to be decommissioned.

Construction began on the site in February 2012 with the first delivery of turbine components on June 2012. The grid connection was completed in July 2012, and the commissioning of turbines commenced in August 2012. The project was completed in October 2012.

The 5 turbines are 125m tall to the tip of the rotors. During the initial excavations some remains from the Bronze age and medieval times were discovered.

Although initial planning permission was declined, this decision was overturned by the Planning Inspectorate, and permission granted.

The walk itself is a public footpath alongside a field and may be muddy or wet after rain or during the Winter months. It is a walk I used to do as a child with my parents and our family dog. The footpath will take you all the way through the field and can be followed back to the main road if desired.

The cache is hidden in a location which should hopefully give a good view of all 5 of the turbines. Parking is at the start of the footpath and right next to the petrol station. I don't believe parking is available in the petrol station, so would advise against this.
