Oxford's first (and so far only) official college geocache! Come inside and see our beautiful College, with its Grade II-listed buildings designed by Basil Champneys and the Antony Gormley sculpture, 'Present Time' in the Quad. Mansfield is a place known for its friendliness and sense of community, and historically as Oxford's college for religious Nonconformists.
Founded in 1896 as a theological college for students wishing to become Nonconformist ministers, Mansfield has grown significantly during its 125+ years in Oxford. In 1956 we began taking students in subjects other than Theology and were awarded the status of a Permanent Private Hall in the University of Oxford. In 1995 this was changed to full College status and the College received its royal charter.
Today Mansfield continues to grow under the leadership of its Principal, Helen Mountfield QC, and its 300+ undergraduate and graduate students, many of whom come from Further Education or Sixth Form colleges, read for degrees in a variety of academic subjects. All this while enjoying life in one of Oxford's friendliest and most non-traditional colleges.
Just next to the cache location you will see the newly built Bonavero Institute for Human Rights, which is a part of the University's Faculty of Law and is dedicated to fostering excellent research and scholarship in human rights.
