Geocache Description:

PROUD MEMBER OF GEOCACHINGMAINE.ORG

While driving to see my daughter at UMaine Orono, I noticed a single park bench off by itself facing the woods near the entrance to the campus. I was intrigued as to why it was there. On the bench was a little placque that said:

In Memory of Hannah Corbeil
Born 6/4/79 - Died 12/18/00

 
In researching this memorial, I found that Hannah Corbeil was a remarkable woman who was a forestry student at the university. Sadly, she met her untimely death when she was only 21 years old. Below is a link to her obituary where you can see a picture of this amazing person and read about her life. https://www.courant.com/news/connecticut/hc-xpm-2000-12-21-0012203226-story.html This is the kind of place that I'd like to revisit in warmer weather when I can sit on the bench and look at the small flowering tree that was planted next to the bench in her memory.

You might want to park at the bank across the street and walk to the gz as the cars really fly down Rangelely Road and parking at the side of the road can be a little dicey.
