Geocache Description:

This wee cache and dash takes you to a little tranquil area where you can sit and watch the world go by for a few minutes, as you are looking for the cache.  A deviation from the type of cache we like to put out, this cache is a little black magnetic nano, which we thought was the best type for this area. Please take care when retrieving and replacing it - you will see why when you find it.

Sinclair Seaman's Presbyterian Church

One of the most unique churches in Europe, Sinclair Seaman's was designed by Charles Lanyon in Venetian style and opened in 1853. The nautically themed interior contains a bell which once graced the deck of HMS Jutland (1916), while the organ boasts the port and starboard lights of a Guinness boat from the Liffey. Collection boxes take the form of lifeboats and the pitch pine pulpit has the shape of a ship's prow flanked by navigation lights.

Belfast Harbour Commisioning Office

Since 1847, the Harbour Office has been the headquarters of the Belfast Harbour Commissioners.

The headquarters of the Harbour Commissioners, responsible for overseeing the development and running of Belfast Port, has on show the magnificent captain’s table and chairs which Gilbert Logan designed for Titanic, but which were delivered just too late (it is said they were subsequently shipped to Southampton, just in time to see Titanic disappear on the horizon). Lord Pirrie, himself a Harbour Commissioner, would have been a frequent, and persuasive, presence in the boardroom. Nearby, are two restored graving docks used by William Ritchie, Belfast’s first major shipbuilder.

There are information boards so you can read more about these two beautiful and iconic buildings. They are well worth 'googling', too!
