Please note, as of February 1st, 2014, I am a Floridian! If you see that this cache needs a new log, I'd appreciate the help to keep it active! Thanks!
Ah, February. "Romance" month. And that most dreaded of holidays - VALENTINE'S DAY. The day all of us single people are reminded that we're single people! I don't normally mind it, but all those sappy Valentine's commercials and goodies everywhere makes even the toughest spinster a little jealous! But for those of us NOT getting diamonds or chocolate, at least there's a little love in this cache!
This is a very easy and quick hike...a little over half a mile each way. It is rocky terrain, but shouldn't be a problem for kids and pets. The easiest approach would be to park at the west end of Vitale (near Carbochan). There is an access point there and you can cross over the cement/boulders and go into the large wash. DO NOT ENTER THIS CHANNEL DURING OR AFTER A STORM OR HEAVY RAIN!! Flash floods are common in Nevada.
You can either follow the wash south, or if you cross over the wash, there is a smoother path running parallel on the other side. At one point, you will need to cross an old, pipe and cable fence designed to keep motor vehicles out. Look south from here and you'll see two high-tension power poles, one on each side of the wash. You want to head to the one on your right. There are numerous utility roads in the area and one leads up to this power pole. The cache is on the SW slope of a small hill.
NOTE: This area gets VERY high winds, so please try to cover the tin as close to the way your found it as possible; especially because it doesn't weigh very much. HAPPY HUNTING!
