Geocache Description:

024: Peninsula Caches- Parkeston Church Micro / TB Hotel. Looking for a medium tupperware cache. For those that like to see the church in view of the cache this had to be moved as a local muggle kept tampering with the cache and being rude to cachers!

Once part of the Suffolk and Essex Border Caches, this series covers both the Harwich and Shotley peninsulas. A beautiful part of the world- many lovely villages, churches, ports, piers, pubs, rivers, sea, along with a colourful history. Whatever side you choose, you will enjoy caching here in some beautiful scenery St Pauls church was the largest church built in Parkeston, built on land granted by the Great Eastern Railway. It was built in 1914 and was dedicated to St Paul and had provision for a congregation of 350. Unfortunately after lead theft from the roof it was found to be unfinacially viable to repair and its last service was held in January of 1914, 100 years after it had opened. In recent years there has been an attempt by the local community to raise funds to re-open the church as a community centre.
