Geocache Description:

The somewhat isolated and small Southdowns Church has a Royal connection. On 7th July 1866 with great fanfare and spectacle a large stone was laid in the wall of the church by the then Princess of Wales. The church is located on a rise overlooking the River Darenth Valley. When first built the church had a tiny congregation which has grown considerably over the years and today provides religious services for around a hundred people living in the nearby houses.

This cache is just outside the church, but please call in and look around. We found the History of the Homes for boys in the corner of the church most interesting.
