How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

The cache is a camouflaged micro-size container.  It is placed along a NYS DEC Snowmobile trail ( also used for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking).  During hunting season, please dress appropriately.  In winter, please step aside to let the snowmobilers pass.

This cache is one in a series of caches related to mammals that can be found in the Central Adirondack region during the winter.  These animals can also be found in the Adirondacks during the other three seasons as well, but since I placed this cache in the winter for a Mid-Winter Geocaching Event, I thought it was appropriate to concentrate on winter mammals

You can hike or ski this trail as part of a 4-mile loop that begins at Lake Eaton Campground.  The loop covers both sides of State Route 30 and crosses the highway approximately 2-miles northwest of the campground entrance.
