The cache is located in and around the Hillside Ski Trails. During snow season, be aware of the 'use' of the trails you hike and limit yourself to the 'multi' use trails in the area. During warmer times, watch out for bears, moose with calves and be prepared for the 'Alaskan Air Force'.
The cache name came from an occurrence that happened while out on the trails with coloReido. We were out and about off trail in an area of thick spruce after the sun had gone down. The short version, I ended up walking into a branch of a tree which hit me in the corner of my eye. I ended up losing a contact lens and with a bruised eye. Nothing major happened but it could have been a lot worse.
I have normally made it a habit to wear safety glasses when out in the woods but had left them on the dash of the truck this particular evening. Lesson learned by me and I would like to encourage you all to wear eye protection if you are going to be off trail, particularly in the dark. We only have two eyes and we don't want anything to happen to them!!!.
You will log several miles over mostly flat terrain while pursuing the stages of this multi. We spent many hours over several days making the placements. We hope you have as much fun obtaining the smiley as we did while placing the cache!!!!
Good Luck!!! You will need it!!!
