Geocache Description:

One of Scotland’s Great Trails, the Cateran Trail is a fully waymarked, 64-mile / 103 km route through Perthshire and the Angus glens in the heart of Scotland. It follows old drove roads and ancient tracks across a varied terrain of farmland, forests and moors. Some of these routes follow the same ones used by the Caterans – fearsome cattle thieves who raided Strathardle, Glenshee and Glen Isla from the Middle Ages to the 17th century and for whom the Trail is named.

The Trail can be tackled in five easy stages. (Or walked in 4/5 days.) It is fully waymarked with Cateran Trail signs – plus a few unique hand-carved posts. It is advisable to carry a map and cache safely i.e equipped for all weather conditions.

From Bamff the trail now heads westward along this quiet country road heading towards Heatheryhaugh where it then continues off road. The picture below shows some hairy coos being moved legally. Not 'lifted'.

This regular sized plastic box is full of swaps for you to trade with one of your own of equal value. You are welcome to leave or move on TBs and geocoins but please note these are not swap items. Please ensure you re-hide the cache really well ready for the next person to enjoy the hunt.
