Geocache Description:

Welcome to The East Central Regional Rail Trail!

The East Central Regional Rail Trail is a beautiful biking / hiking trail that occupies an abandoned rail corridor. We had so much fun biking this trail, we thought we would put out a few "fun" things for you to find along the way. We hope you enjoy the trail as much as we did!

Please do not hunt when muggles are around. Please rehide as well or better than you found it. The trail closes at sundown, so DO NOT CACHE AT NIGHT!

The first leg of the East Central Regional Rail Trail was completed in 2011, with 5.7-mile segment in Volusia County between Osteen and Deltona. When complete, the rail-trail will extend more than 50 miles between Enterprise and Edgewater, with another segment to Titusville. For now, you can travel from Providence Boulevard in Deltona to State Road 415 in Osteen along the paved, multi-use path. Trail extends on the other side of the bridge but as of 5/1/15, that part of the trail is not yet open.

Parking is available at Thornby Park which is just south of the intersection of Providence Boulevard and Doyle Road in Deltona. We no longer suggest parking at the Publix Shopping Center. Your car may be towed. You can also access the East Central Regional Rail Trail at Green Spring Park (994 Enterprise/Osteen Road) in Enterprise. And at the corner of SR415 and Enterprise Osteen Road, there is a gas staion just south trail, but it is not really a designated trail head. You may want to speak to someone at the store if you want to park there. If you are doing the whole trail, be prepared for a 10+ mile bike/hike round trip. Bring plenty of water & snacks w/ you. From either end, the next oasis is over 5 miles away!
