Guildford United Reformed Church and its predecessors have been meeting at various buildings around Guildford since the Toleration Act of 1689. The first recorded location was the Congregational Meeting house or chapel which was built around 1690 in what was then Black Horse Lane which is now called Chapel Street. When the church moved to North Street in 1863 the original Congregational Hall was used as a Sunday School and lecture hall. After being remodelled in 1902 the building was used as a general purpose hall and was home, for over 50 years, to the 9th Guildford (Congregational) Scout troop. In 1965 the hall became a dance school and later formed part of the Guildford School of Acting. Finally, the hall stood empty for decades until it was refurbished and opened in 2004 as a restaurant, at the time of launching this cache it was part of well known Scottish seafood restaurant chain
The United Reformed Church moved to the current location on Portsmouth Road in 1965
