Webster county was formed in 1860. It is located in the Western Coal Field region of the state. The elevation in the county ranges from 325 to 640 feet above sea level. In 2010 the county population was 13,621 in a land area of 331.94 square miles, an average of 41.0 people per square mile.
The county seat is Dixon.
