Geocache Description:

The Tonglands bridge crossing the River Dee 2km north of Kirkcudbright was designed by famous engineer Thomas Telford ( 1757 - 1834 ). Constructed between 1804 - 1808 the bridge has a 112 foot main span along with side spans which are supported by gothic pointed arches. The castellated towers and parapets were the work of famous artist Alexander Naysmyth ( 1758 - 1840 ).
