1623/78 Robert Thoroton lived in village

1842 Thoroton’s grave discovered

1844 Chancel roof renewed

1863 Churchyard lowered

1882 Restoration of nave, aisles and south porch roof. Thoroton coffin placed in vestry.

1901 Altar of St John Baptist’s chapel found

1911 Tower restored

This cache is in a lovely village, you may find yourself waiting for wandering cattle to get out of the road, or even see the village cricket match being played on the green. I hope that you enjoy the church and the area. I can heartily recommend the village pub here.
