NCGO's Central Region Winter Event!
The NCGO has decided to have at least one event in each season of the year. The central region's season is winter. Brrrr... But hey! No snakes, no mosquitoes, no poison plants. Maybe a bit of snow?
Come one, come all, from near and far. Hosted by the NCGO Central Region but everyone is welcome!
Whether you are new to Geocaching, an old timer or maybe, just plain curious about the adventures of caching this event is for you. It's a great opportunity to see what caching is all about, tell a few tales or get a tip or two about that one hide that seems to elude you.
Please come and join us for a "Dog Days" hot dog lunch at Anderson Point Park. There will be plenty of dogs and all kinds of fix'ins and sides. If you would like to bring a side dish or a desert feel free to do so and it will be greatly appreciated.
Please post a will attend and how many are in your group so we can estimate the amount of dogs we need to burn, I mean cook.
We have the large shelter rented from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. Lunch will be ready at noon.
It's "C'mon Dog Days" so if you have a dog, well dog gone it, bring it. I mean the 4 legged kind. This is an awesome park to let your caching best friend take you out for a walk or a stroll along the beautiful NRT. Please obey the leash laws as posted.
If you want to give your "Dogs" a rest well then, bring your bicycle for a lap around the park or a brisk ride while caching the greenway.
Anderson Point is a beautiful and often overlooked city park that is located just east of I 440 at US 64/264. The “Point” is a unique location at the confluence of Crabtree Creek and the Neuse River. The park is quietly nestled in between those two tributaries. Anderson Point offers many facilities that include open space areas, an amphitheater, a playground, two picnic shelters and a canoe launch.
Also let’s not forget about the 15+ mile Neuse River Trail Greenway that extends from the park and all the way to the dam at Falls Lake. Did I mention that it's chocked full of caches? Good stuff!
