Max's Video Game Room opened their doors in the 80's in a small town shopping plaza. The owner "Max" decided in 1988 to change the game room to a video store starting with renting Beta and VHS (we all know who won that battle). He changed from VHS to DVD and finally to Blu-Ray before finally closing the doors in 2008 after 20+ years serving the folks in New Carlisle and Park Layne. My husband and I would always be amused when people would come in with late movies and say they were close personal friends of "Max" (wink, wink).
Max's was the only video store in the New Carlisle area for a number of years and part of my rite of passage for dating the owner's son was to work in the family business. I guess that's why I now try to frequent businesses that are small town, Mom & Pop type places. I have such fond memories of working at Max's Video, sliding the index cards through the card reader, making fresh popcorn, signing up new members, and becoming part of an awesome family!
The store is long gone, you can't even find historic information by Googling the name. This cache is my tribute to my in-laws and to all those who remember walking into Max's Video Store to rent movies throughout the years.
Congratulations to gallaghd on the FTF!!!!
