Geocache Description:

This idyllic spot is much loved by walkers and runner during their daily lunch time rush for exercise and by the population at large of Trentham due to the two huge water tanks that are sited here. It offers great views of the valley and i would recommended it as a safety spot for any impending tsunami warning.

The main feature of this site is of course the two huge water reservoirs that sit nearby quietly spilling out water to the residents below.

This cache has been placed in a spot that shows the splendid view of the township of Trentham and the greater Hutt Valley. It is 400ml sistema container hidden beneath made-made features. Come up on a nice day or enjoy a sun set from this spot. Please be careful to replace the cache and its rather prickly coverings in its original location as muggles are frequent in this area and can appear from multiple directions at random.

When placed the cache contained a pencil, log book and some items for swapping.

The cache is best reached by a short 400m walk up a steep gravel access road that comes off Freyberg Road. The gravel access road has a gate at the bottom to stop vehicles going up it so you'll need to park nearby and pursue this one on foot.

For the closest parking I would recommend either leaving your car on Pinehill Cresent or on Freyberg Road opposite Davis Field. Freyberg Road narrows after that point and parking is not an option. Don't drive past the gravel access road as you'll find yourself headed towards Rimutaka prison.

Every time i come up here (jogging and looking for breath) I think about another similar cache I've found by Punga and Paua called 5th Rock from the Sun (GC22E51).

My thanks to TwigNZ who replaced the cache on 22 June 2022 after a fire 'ate' the original on 01 Jan 2022 : https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/300501671/residents-asked-to-conserve-water-following-trentham-upper-hutt-fire
