Geocache Description:

This cache can be a quick cache and dash or a pleasant place to stop off for a picnic.

This has always been a stop off point for us when walking around Bassenthwaite Lake. You get some great views of the lake and its is a nice relaxing area for a picnic.

Bassenthwaite Lake is home to the vendace fish which can only be found here or in the nearby lake, Derwentwater. These are the only two locations in England the fish can be found, so keep your eyes open, you maybe lucky to spot one. Other fish in the lake include perch, roach, dace and pike.

Between the end of July and the first few weeks in August you may be lucky enough to see ospreys flying over you, or catch a glimpse of them diving for their dinner in the lake.

If your using the free parking facility (waypoint specified) please take care when crossing the A66. At the bottom of the car park you will see a kissing gate and some steps that will lead you up onto the A66 main road. This main road can be very busy so please be careful and stay safe
