Pioneer Trampers (Horowhenua) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Tramper Ted: Had a good look last time we passed by, but could not find any sign of the cache. Maybe the cows ate it! So decided to archive this one.

Geocache Description:

At this site there is a plaque placed by the Levin/Waiopehu Tramping Club to mark their 50 year jubilee in memory of the pioneer trampers who explored this area.  A good place for a cache we thought, as we certainly appreciate all these areas to visit and enjoy.

Start from the nearby Poads Road carpark which is the launching spot for tramps to the Waiopehu Hut, South Ohau Hut, North Ohau Hut and beyond.  The track is well marked across the farmland and makes an excellent area for a day trip within easy access of Levin.

Please remember to use the stiles and respect any farm animals around.  The dogs near the carpark are all bark, but friendly.

Just a small container with waterproof paper and a pencil, but a pen will make a better entry on this sort of paper.  If you are going out for the day or longer, remember your sunscreen, food, water and have the right gear including good footwear.

Have fun
