[ITA] La città romana di Imola fu fondata sui resti di un insediamento etrusco che, al momento dell'arrivo dei Romani, era occupato dai Galli Boi. Al centro abitato fu dato il nome di Forum Cornelii probabilmente dal nome di Publio Cornelio Scipione Nasica che fu il console vittorioso sui Galli nel 197 a.C. Scoperte occasionali del secolo scorso e scavi archeologici negli ultimi venticinque anni hanno portato alla luce il complesso della zona Villa Clelia, dove sono presenti i resti di tombe di età tardo-romana. Un progetto in corso a cura del Comune di Imola prevede di trasformare l'area degli scavi, già visibili su prenotazione, in un parco archeologico attrezzato.
[ENG] The roman city of Imola was founded over a Etruscan village which, when Romans arrived in the area, was occupied by the gallic tribe named Boii. To the new founded city was given the name of "Forum Cornelii" after the name of Publio Cornelio Scipione Nasica, who was the Roman Consul who won against the Boii in 197 b.C. Occasional archeological discoveries in the last century and excavations in the last twenty-five years brought to light the complex of Villa Clelia area, where there are rests of tombs of the late Roman period. An ongoing project by the City of Imola aims to transform the excavation area, already visible on reservation, into an archaeological park facilities.
