Almost 800 years ago Guðmundur Arason bishop which had reputation of kindness and was thought to carry a lot of gentleness and softness with him. He was named Guðmundur góði or Gudmund the good.
Whenever Gudmund was travelling an army of poor people followed him because where he was, people could expect some food. He had a good friend at the big farm that used to stay here at Kálfanes and visited him every time he passed the area. Gudmund the good, which was thougt to have miracle power, blessed a lot of dangerous paths around the country to make them save as well as warm and cold water sources like the one here in Kálfanes. Since then the water in this tiny stream is thought to have healing powers. In fact it is believed that the water is so holy that it is believed that it's possible to carry it in a knitted wool cap over the fjord without loosing one drop of water.
You will find a cup on a post by the stream. Taste the water before look for the Holy Water Cach. I'm sure it helps.
Original cach contains logbook and a pen, old Icelandic coin, a protection stone and a gift for the first finder.
