Information on St. Lukes Church

The village church is that of St Luke.

A priest and church are mentioned here in Domesday.

The current building, near or on the site of an ancient building, is a plain brick chapel with stone dressings. It dates from 1844, with alterations and extension to the chancel built in 1910. It is a simple rectangular, single-celled building, measuring 33 feet by 21 feet, with a western turret containing one bell.

All the interior fittings are plain.

The church was not licenced for weddings until 1965.

Rev. Thomas Arnold Lee, "was born in 1889. He was a Durham graduate who had taught in schools in Cambridge, Singapore and Leeds; he had also served as a curate in Southwark Cathedral and at Leeds. During the First World War he had been a chaplain to HM Forces...in 1948 (he became) rector of Gedling with Stoke Bardolph (1948-57), and was made a canon of Southwell in 1955. He then retired to Buckinghamshire, where he was vicar of Grendon Underwood and Edgcott 1957-61. He died in 1972

As for the cache itself. It is a nano, please replace it exactly as you find it.

“If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.

There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list”
