A winter-time dog-friendly geocache at Silverstar
I went up to silverstar to go on a winter geo-hike but all the snow-shoeing and cross-coutry trails with caches didnt allow dogs. So I decided to make a cache that takes you on a short dog-friendly hike.
There are many easier ways to reach this cache Im sure, but if you want to snow-shoe park near the called "Not what it seems". This is a very clever hide and will get your geosenses warmed up. When you are ready to head up the mountain, you have your pick of groomed snow-mobile trails.
The cache is approx. 1.25 Km away as the crow flies. It took us about an hour to reach it but Im sure some people could cut that time in half. You can follow groomed trails almost the entire way (if you pick the right trails) with only a little bit of deep snow at the end. I doubt anyone will be able to reach this cache in the summer, it will be too high once the snow melts.
This cache is filled with the usual nick-nacks as well as a first to find prize!
