Easy half mile walk on the beach from the Lost Creek State Wayside parking lot to this perfect agate and fossil collecting site just south of Newport.
The Lost Creek State Wayside (N44° 32' 43" W124° 4' 25") is the closest parking. There is no beach access right at the cache. The walk from the Wayside is about half a mile but easy on normally hard sand. It is important to watch the tide when seeking this cache as high tide will come right up to the bank. We placed this cache (our first one) while staying very near by, at a small cottage for our honeymoon. We quickly discovered the wonderful agate and fossil collecting right here at this location. If you would like to try your hand at the collecting it is best accomplished around low tide or as the tide is receding. Due to the popularity of collecting at this site you will need to be cautious of muggles. Also the rocks you will need to climb on can be very slippery so please be careful. We have included a Log, Pen, Tide Chart (Please don't take this out. We included it so people can look up the next low tide if they want to come back for some collecting.), Pack of Gum, Hot Wheels Car, Zipper Bracelet, Few Small Agates We Collected Here On The Beach, and for the FTF a FREE cup of Chowder from our favorite place to eat seafood on the coast...Mo's. We hope you take time to enjoy this beautiful beach as much as we have!
