Wilf Mexted Reserve is a very pleasant area of native bush at the start of Woodman Drive in Greenacres, Tawa. It contains a good number of maturing tawa trees.
The name Mexted is synonymous with Tawa and goes back to the mid-1800s when George & Elizabeth Mexted farmed in the area. Great grandson Wilf, along with two brothers, became involved in two important subdivisions in Tawa valley. He gifted the reserve to the community in 1939. The Mexted name is still in the local phone book, with Mexted Motors on the Main Road being the sole car sales business in Tawa.
The cache is a 200ml Sistema container hidden in a remote corner of the reserve. Although you can sit in quiet seclusion amongst the trees at GZ, close to the stream and think you're miles from civilisation, the reality is that at this point the nearest road is only 120m away. Not to be recommended in the dark because there are a couple of small bluffs you could tumble down.
Even if the hide doesn't provide a bit of a challenge to TRECers (Tawa's resident expert cachers) and others, the inconsistency of GPS readings in there may well do. So good luck!
