I drive past here on the way to work and have decided that this sorry specimen needs sprucing up.
Please take care when it comes to thin holds- you probably/hopefully don't need them. Also, the cache has been in place for a long time, so you definitely need to assess the state of the tree for yourself. FINDERS HAVE REPORTED THAT HAND AND FOOT HOLDS ARE GETTING MORE ROTTEN. PLEASE TAKE CARE.
Nov. 2021: BradLad and I came to have a look at the stump today. The first couple of moves have become a little more tricky, especially in damp conditions, but they were never easy. The upper part looks perfectly solid. Attempting the cache without a ladder is possible but you certainly attempt doing so at your own risk and you might want a friend at the bottom of your ladder.
The "no children" attribute is just a warning that this is fairly close to a busy road but there is a parking spot on the lane very close to the cache and children would no doubt enjoy the fun.
The "not at night" attribute reflects the fact that I'd say that this is perfectly safe as long as you are careful about what you rely on and that might be tricky in the dark. Having said this, the cache area is somewhat visible from the road, particularly in winter, so those with a liking for high viz jackets might go for that strategy or a night time assault might actually be better if you are cautious.
As always, please be careful and you attempt this at your own risk. The cache was placed in a position that doesn't require going all the way. The cache location is now more rotten so be careful with using it as a hand hold.
I strongly suggest parking at the suggested waypoint rather than in front of the no parking signs at the tea shop just up and across the busy road.
