This cache takes you to the old Darlimurla Train Station.
You can use different modes of transport to get here, walking, riding a bike, riding your horse, or taking your car - just not the train anymore.
In the late 1880s Darlimurla was a busy place with hotels, several saw mills, a variety of stores and even a coffee palace. Unfortunately the area was ravaged by big bushfires in 1898 and the town was devastated. Everything except one hotel was destroyed.
Darlimurla never really recovered and Mirboo North became the hub for the area. The railway continued to operate, mainly for transportation of goods, until it was finally closed down in 1968.
If you want to explore the Rail Trail that comes past here, it goes from Mirboo North to Boolarra and Darlimurla Station provides a nice picnic shelter for your half-way stop.
The cache is a flat Sistema container (450ml) with all the usual stuff in it.
Note: Cache will be maintained by friends of mine living in Mirboo North.
