Conservation Collier is excited to meet area geocachers at its very first ever geocaching event to be held at its Caracara Prairie Preserve on Saturday, April 20th from 9:00am to 12:00pm!
The 368 -acre preserve is located at the Collier-Lee County line off Corkscrew Road, next to the CREW Trust lands. The preserve is home to caracaras, gopher tortoises, sandhill cranes, white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, wild hogs and much more. The active cattle lease on the preserve provides the additional adventure of viewing cows while hiking. This event will join with the hundreds of events in dozens of countries as part of the 11th annual CITO weekend. Those attending CITO events that weekend will earn a 2013 CITO souvenir on their Geocaching profile. The event will feature light trail maintainance and fun as several new caches will be published for the event. Coordinates for the new caches will be available at the event. See posted webpage for more information on the preserve and a trail map. Conservation Collier will be providing swag in the caches and PRIZES for return of small multi-colored erasers stashed in some of the caches. There will be SWAG GIVEAWAYS just for participating and a drawing for a GRAND PRIZE at noon. Conservation Collier will also provide bottled water and trail bars.
